Slackr uses Google Adsense to deliver advertising on the posts you view, and Google Analytics to monitor website traffic. In order for these functions to work your web browser automatically sends certain information to Google. This includes, for example, the web address of the page that you’re visiting and your IP address. Google may also set cookies on your browser, or read cookies that are already there.
And what is a cookie? From the Information Commissioner’s Office website:
“A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers that is downloaded on to your computer when you visit a website. Cookies are used by many websites and can do a number of things, eg remembering your preferences, recording what you have put in your shopping basket, and counting the number of people looking at a website.”
